Dēor Creature
A downloadable TTRPG supplement
Hazel Seedfall had run out of luck. The monstrous cat that pinned her tail was losing interest in their game. Pray to your god, hissed the cat. She offers only a swift death.
Hazel was religious, but also quick-witted. She prayed, but not to the mouse-god Ninkilim. Ninkarrak, she pleaded. Grant me salvation, and I shall serve you forever.
The canine howl of assent surprised cat and mouse alike...
What is this?
Afflict tiny creatures with their own form of lycanthropy. Attach this card to any monstrous sourcebook entry to uncover the creature's second form. That innocent-looking sparrow may just turn out to be a deorcockatrice!
Compatible with any TTRPG system (it's MOSAIC-Strict!), this card requires only another creature description and a little wordplay to use in your game.
How to use it
Choose a monster from your favorite TTRPG sourcebook. Decide what this monster's primary or "true" form is (mouse, lizard, etc.) and what triggers it to transform.
Then choose a few adjectives or descriptors from the sourcebook entry as traits that the creature now has in when it's in its primary form.
In the example photo, perhaps a lizard made a Wish to become a Clawfoot -- and now it's a Deor-Clawfoot! Even when in it's in its lizard form, it's now "imposing" and "fierce." But being a Deor-creature has its drawbacks. As a Clawfoot, maybe it's "only imposing" or "too fierce!"
