I get it. After a long day at school, the last thing your kid wants to do is come up with something both interesting and innocuous when you ask, "How was school today?" So inevitably, the answer is "fine."

I mean, what would you say if they actually asked you, "How was work?"

Playing "What's Popping, Fellow Kids" won't actually solve that problem.

What it will do is give you insight into what actually happens at school every day. Because by asking your kid to GM a game where you play a Cryptid that chews the scenery - literally - you're also asking them to tell you what's perfectly ordinary.

Even better: You get to be that cringe outsider messing up a school day without leaving your home.
