Grab enough pads of paper and pens for each player and go!

This version can be great fun if you have packs of sticky notes in as many colors as you have players. Oh, and a big wall or other empty surface.

Assign a different color to each person. When it's that person's turn, give every player a pad of sticky notes in that color. Put a single word or term on each note (go fast!).

When you've gone through every player, assemble all the the stickies on a wall. Cluster identical and similar words together -- the biggest cluster will be your One Thing. Remove and set aside the stickies in the largest clusters.

Separate the remaining stickies by color, and you should have candidates for each player's One Thing.
